Hinoki wooden toy boat from the Japanese brand, Kiko and gg, founded by the two Japanese female toy designers, Kaz and Novi. Kiko and gg have been making wooden toys for over 10 years that are handmade in small batches in Asia. In close collaboration with both Japanese and international designers, Kiko and gg are known for reinventing disposable plastic toys for longer-lasting wooden toys and they focus on using wood that is mined with less impact on the environment.
Hinoki is an old Japanese cypress wood, light, antibacterial and naturally resistant to moisture – and therefore a suitable material for bath toys.
Care:
- Wipe thoroughly with a dry cloth after each use and allow both to air dry in a well-ventilated area.
- Avoid direct exposure to sunlight.
- While hinoki is naturally resistant to moisture, it should not be soaked in water for long periods of time.
- To enjoy the natural Hinoki aroma, the bottom of the boat is left untreated. Over time, untreated hinoki can emit a special resin called 'Yani'. Although it may be slightly sticky and appear as a discoloration, it is not harmful to the product. Rather, this essential oil is the source of Hinoki's distinct, citrusy scent.
