Monograph on the famous Danish-American designer, Jens Quistgaard, (1919–2008), who is considered one of the founders of the modern Scandinavian style. Quistgaard's design philosophy – that everyday objects should work harmoniously – influenced his approach to everything from spoons and pans to crockery and pepper grinders, and his approach is as relevant today as it was half a century ago.

For 30 years, Jens Quistgaard was chief designer at the American company, Danish Designs, where he was involved in the creation of more than 4,000 products.

With never-before-seen sketches, archival photography, case studies, and an illustrated inventory of his designs, this book delves into Quistgaard's life and work to clarify his contribution to design history.

Quistgaard's work is represented in major museums in Europe and the USA, including Design Museum Denmark, MoMA, New York and the British Museum, London, where many of his designs are still in production to this day.

The book's author, curator and film director, Stig Guldberg, has written the exhibition catalog for the exhibition DANSK – Design by Jens Quistgaard, HEART – at the Herning Museum for Contemporary Art in 2015, and previously also directed the film, 'Designer Jens Quistgaard – A pot for my wife'.
