Philipp Deines, who lives and works in Berlin, tells the story of Klint's extraordinary life and pioneering work, through five chapters on her development as an artist, her family background and her relationship with the spiritual.

This is a story of how Hilma af Klint arrived at her distinctive paintings, her spiritual quest and the friends who helped her, and it is a story of the strength it took for Klint to continue as an artist against all odds.

Hilma af Klint is today considered one of the pioneers of abstract art. Although her paintings were not shown publicly until 1987, her works from the beginning of the twentieth century predate the first, purely abstract paintings of Kandinsky, Mondrian and Malevich.
