The table lamp, Cestita, is inspired by the traditional lanterns that light up the homes along the Spanish coast and on the open terraces in Spain. The lamp consists of an opalised, mouth-blown glass shade, which is supported by a refined cherry wood construction, which gives the lamp a light and elegant look. The lamp is designed so that it is easy to move around.
Cestita is one of the Spanish Miguel Milá's most distinctive lamps. The wooden construction is handmade by European craftsmen who use a traditional technique when they bend the wood using steam. The wood is then finely polished and put together so that it is robust.
Miduel Milá is one of Spain's highly regarded industrial designers. He began his career in the 50s and in 1962 he designed the Cestita lamp. Despite the lamp's whimsical design - or perhaps because of it - the Cestita lamp remains a true modern classic.
