Piet Hein - A biography is two volumes about one of Denmark's greatest and most internationally recognized cultural figures of all time - the poet, cartoonist, inventor and designer Piet Hein (1905-1996).

During his lifetime, Piet Hein achieved a popularity that is unparalleled in recent Danish cultural history. His 'Gruk' has sold more than one and a half million copies in book form and has been translated into more than 20 languages. Piet Hein is one of the most quoted Danish poets ever - probably the most quoted. In addition, there are 3,100 registered and cataloged ideas, of which only a fraction have seen the light of day, and where the super ellipse and the super egg have long since manifested themselves at the top of Danish design.

The work presents the first large, comprehensive and popular biography of Piet Hein. Volume 1, De unge år 1905-1956, will be published in October 2023, dealing with the early years and following the young Piet Hein's development as a designer and poet and celebrity in Denmark. The second volume, De modne år 1957-1996, will be published in October 2024.

Through Piet Hein's son, Hugo Piet Hein, Peter Borberg (b. 1972) has gained exclusive access to Piet Hein's private archive, which includes thousands of letters, newspaper articles, documents, photographs, drawings and drafts of products that have never been seen before .

Peter Borberg has a MA. in Nordic language and literature and journalist. He has published several cultural history and documentary books, i.a. Storm P. A biography (2017), which was extremely well received in the press and by Danish reviewers, and for which the author received the Storm P. Prize 2018.
