The Danish designer, Ole Gjerløv-Knudsen (1930-2009), designed a saw bench in 1962 for his son, who was going on a camping trip. Before leaving, the son fell ill with a sore throat, and his father therefore hurried to finish the sawmill, so that the son could take it to camp school and not have to lie and freeze on the bare ground. Today, the sawmill has become a furniture classic and very popular for use both indoors and outdoors.

The sawmill/Daybed has a frame of light, untreated oak and a cover of natural colored linen. All parts are assembled with natural-coloured sisal rope according to the old "saw principle", and is thus very special in its construction .

When it is folded into the accompanying linen bag with shoulder strap, it looks like a ski bag, and takes up no more space either.

Ole Gjerløv-Knudsen was a trained furniture architect, visionary designer and principal of the School of Artisans (School of Applied Art/Danmarks Designskole) in the period 1967-1990. Ole Gjerløv-Knudsen is particularly known for his light furniture, and Sawbriksen was his favorite.

You can also buy a mattress for the sawmill. See the mattress here .
