Tal R Painting, written by art critic Pernille Albrethsen , is the first comprehensive presentation of his multifaceted painting practice. It follows his constantly changing art from the 1990s until today, where he is recognized as a major innovator of modern figurative painting.
For more than twenty-five years, the Danish artist Tal R has been a prominent figure on the international art scene. Right from the beginning, he dreamed of painting and telling stories, even though 'great stories' had fallen out of favor – especially in the art of painting. You had to 'enter the painting from the side,' as Tal R puts it.
Pernille Albrethsen is an art critic for the Danish newspaper 'Weekendavisen' and is the Copenhagen editor for the Scandinavian art magazine 'Kunstkritikk'. She has a master's degree in modern culture from the University of Copenhagen and New York University.
