It has inspired poets and visual artists alike to more or less imaginative visions of doom and utopias, and to a large extent still does so.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Arctic became a 'cross-over' exhibition about the ways in which people with very different backgrounds translate ideas, notions, dreams and visions of the unknown, and it includes both classic romantic images and contemporary art, authentic expedition photos and scientific objects, literature and sound.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eContemporary art played a significant role in the exhibition.
