Burel Factory is a Portuguese company from Serra da Estrela, dedicated to preserving the heritage of the wool industry and mastering traditional techniques through design, art and innovation. When establishing Casa das Penhas Douradas, their work with burel was inspired by the Lanifícios Império factory, which was on the verge of closure. In order to save both the factory’s heritage, its people and its knowledge, Burel Factory took over and now weaves with the threads of the past.
