Handmade necklace, Pearl Lemon Necklace, from the Danish-Guatemalan design brand Pura Utz. The necklace is made by talented artisans in Guatemala with high quality glass beads.
Behind Pura Utz are the company’s owners Bernabela and Anna, who consider each other soul mates and share the same dream for Pura Utz. They met through an NGO and after three years of work, they decided to found Pura Utz together in 2018 in Bernabela’s house in Santiago Atitlán. The team started with six women and has since grown to 16, and during periods of high production and collaboration, it has even exceeded 50 women. The house has undergone many changes, and two additional floors have been built to create a proper workshop for the Pura Utz team.
The dream of Pura Utz is to provide a full-time income to a team of more than fifty women in Guatemala, so they can strengthen their self-esteem by supporting themselves and investing in their future – all while continuing to create high-quality handmade products.
