Urban design - a manual with 10 design principles is a stand-off against modernist urban planning. It is designed as a manual for humane urban design based on the principles of the classic square city.
In previous books, Karsten Pålsson has done away with modernist urban planning. Instead, he points to a practice based on 10 basic principles for the development of humane block towns. The book is a manual for urban design based on the block town's potential and principles. After an introductory presentation of the principles, the proposal for a master plan for Refshaleøen is reviewed in an illustrative process from vision to finished plan.
The target group for the book is builders, urban developers and planners, but especially students at architecture schools and other places where new ideas need to be thought about urban development.
