Mads Nørgaard's 101 t-shirt, striped or plain, is a classic within Danish textile design. Especially the striped version is Mads Nørgaard's trademark. Here it is the #101 t-shirt, in the colors black and white.
Nørgaard on the Strøgets #101 t-shirt was designed in 1967 by Jørgen Nørgaard - Mads Nørgaard's father. The T-shirt is knitted, dyed and sewn in Denmark. Precisely knitted and dyed in Ikast, and sewn in Mads Nørgaard's sewing studio in Korsør.
The t-shirt is a long-sleeved cotton t-shirt in rib knit, available in many colors, plain or striped, in two lengths, but otherwise it is one size only. We have chosen to sell the t-shirt in regular length, which fits most people under 175 cm.
The name of the #101 t-shirt is inspired by American classics, Highway 101 and Levi's 501 jeans. The #101 t-shirt has been named a Danish design icon several times and is part of the permanent exhibition at Designmuseum Denmark. The T-shirt has also been exhibited at several special exhibitions in Danish museums. In 2014, Jørgen Nørgaard received this year's honorary award at the Elle Style Awards, just as Jørgen Nørgaard was honored with the Design Council's award in 2007.
