Vallø garden table, reinterpreted by architect, Ole-Gjerløv-Knudsen, for danish furniture brand, Skovshoved Møbelfabrik. The table originally comes from the Vallø Foundation in South Zealand back from the end of the 19th century, where it was used by nuns and monks. Sold online only.

Ole Gjerløv-Knudsen (1930-2009) was a trained furniture architect, visionary designer and for a time principal of the School of Crafts. He is particularly known for his light furniture, which is clearly seen here in the collaboration with Skovshoved Møbelfabrik, which over time has found inspiration for their garden furniture from existing classics all around Denmark.

Skovshoved Møbelfabrik produces their furniture in Poland, from wood, the forest in Europe. The factory requires producers and sub-suppliers to be able to document proper working conditions, no use of child labour, proper wages and documentation of the origin of the wood and the work behind it - eg replanting.

In 2009, Skovshoved Møbelfabrik decided to replace the turpentine-based paint with water-based paint in the varnishing process – three years before the EU legislated in the area.

The table is easy to fold up, easy to move around and does not take up much space during (winter) storage.
