The Architect's Toolbox - The Basic Forms is an introduction to architecture for 3rd - 6th grade. The book is richly illustrated with examples of Danish architecture, which is characteristic of Danish architectural history, and where the individual basic form is prominent.
The book is structured in chapters that clarify the characteristics and place of each basic form in architecture. Each section ends with different tasks that provide inspiration to continue working on your own. Working practically contributes to an understanding of the structure of architecture.
There is a website associated with the book, where the child's final urban space model can be uploaded.
The aim of the book is to provide tools to see and recognize the basic shapes in everyday life, as well as to increase the ability for spatial and creative thinking.
Author Tine Olesen and illustrator Ulla Svarrer are both educated at the School of Architecture in Aarhus.
