Wire Table – black

$1,389
Membership price: $1,250.10

When architect Ole Schjøll ( 1935 – 2018) drew his characteristic sculpture of a wire table in 1984, he did not imagine that he would pull out the drawings and put the table into production 32 years later. But it happened, in a production at the furniture manufacturer A. Petersen in Copenhagen. Wire Table comes into the world through no fewer than five different production stages - all on Danish soil. The table is bent, welded, polished, cut and lacquered before it is finished and ready to come home to a cozy living room. Can only be purchased online.

Follow the Wire Table's journey from sketch to finished piece of furniture: The stainless steel wire that makes up the table's frame is supplied and shaped by FK Trådindustri, a company in central Jutland. The 10 wire components are subsequently welded together into a single frame by welder, Mikkel Kjærholm.

The frame then comes to OP Stål in Ringsted, where it undergoes electropolishing, which is both more environmentally friendly and more durable than chrome plating in the past.

In the meantime, the steel tabletop has been cut to the right size and shaped with Gladsaxe at the company Klip og Buk. Corners, edges and burrs are sanded before the table top is sent on to Laduco Industrilak in Ishøj.

The tabletop is hung on a hook and then the powder – which does not contain solvents – is sprayed onto the tabletop, which is electrically charged so that the powder sticks to it.

Afterwards, the table top is baked in the large oven for 20 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
