The company grew rapidly and by around 1900 had become Europe's largest manufacturer in the field. To protect turtles, the third generation, under Georg Friedrich Heim, began experimenting with new materials and found in plexiglass a suitable alternative that could be worked like tortoiseshell. Today, Heim Söhne is run by the 5th and 6th generation and is known for handmade products for table settings and interior design.

The egg cups are dishwasher safe at a maximum of 50 degrees.
