In this book, Stentryk (2000), the art historian Mikael Wivel tells the story of Kirkeby's lithography, and in a long essay he identifies the artist's lithographic work. All lithographs are reproduced in colour, and the book concludes with an interview with lithographer Peter Johansen. In the interview, Peter Johansen tells journalist Synne Rifbjerg about the uniqueness of lithography and the lithography Hostrup-Pedersen and Johansen's collaboration with Kirkeby over the years.
Per Kirkeby's works form one of the focal points of Louisiana's collection, and the museum has shown several large exhibitions with Per Kirkeby. The stone print, or lithography, has been an important form of artistic expression for Per Kirkeby since in 1979 he produced his first work of art on lithographic stone. Kirkeby was immediately captivated by the special technique, and he has since produced more than 200 lithographic works - almost all at Hostrup-Pedersen & Johansen's lithography in Valby.
