This milestone release celebrates Nike's major influence and charts the brand's transformation from rebellious startup to global phenomenon.
The book is published by Phaidon - sold exclusively in a few stores before the launch, including Louisiana's webshop - and if you are a sneaker geek, fashion enthusiast or design lover, you cannot pass this publication up.
Nike - Better is temporary is a visual survey and unprecedented exploration of Nike's ethos-driven design practice, telling the story of industry-defining innovations and globally recognized products, alongside previously unpublished designs, prototypes, insider stories and more
Most people may remember Nike's 2017 attempt to get a man through a marathon in under two hours - and it is this narrative that opens the book, which also contains five thematic chapters on Nike's focus on performance, brand expression, collaboration, inclusive design and sustainability.
The book's design is also quite extraordinary: the striking cover features overlapping silk-screened layers of Nike's proprietary volt yellow and hyperpunch pink colors, atop an image of world marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge, printed in a half-tone dot pattern. The book's spine, visible through the clear jacket, shows a series of colored tabs extending from its inner pages, referenced in the book's bonus chapter, Crafting Color.
