Scarf in pure merino wool from the English design studio, Wallace & Sewell. Harriet Wallace-Jones and Emma Sewell were students at the Royal College of Art, set up studio together in 1990 and have since supplied distinctive woven scarves, bedspreads, upholstery fabrics and cushions, with a reputation for exquisite quality and innovative design. Wallace & Sewell's textiles are all produced in England, from natural fibres, by established yarn suppliers. The brand's merino wool is from 100% mulesing-free sheep.
Wallace & Sewell is inspired by visual art and the aesthetics of the Bauhaus school and seeks to combine visual art with the weaving craft and traditional manufacturing techniques in the products.
When they exhibited for the first time in 1992, their works generated much enthusiasm and interest, especially from Barney's in New York, who placed an order for scarves. This proved instrumental in laying the foundation for the Wallace & Sewell brand. Barneys still buys today.
The brand has designed and produced for various boutique hotels, museums, stadiums and the London Underground, and Wallace & Sewell today supplies over 400 retailers in 25 countries.
