Sailorcap - sailor's hat - in hemp fibres, from the Danish cap maker Wilgart, designed in collaboration with Louisiana. In 2010, the then 21-year-old Silas Skram wandered through Europe by chance and ended up taking home a craft - the cap-making profession - which had not existed in Denmark since the 1990s. After three years of training, Skram founded the company Wilgart, which offers high-quality handmade headgear, produced in Nørrebro, on Bornholm and in Bamberg, Germany, where the cap master Herr Bullmann has a workshop. Bullmann has also produced this model, which is only sold in the Louisiana Design Shop.
The sailor cap, or skullcap, has historically been one of the world's most widespread types of headgear. The cap has no shade and is therefore suitable at sea, because the wind has no shade to grab onto. Among musicians it is often called a Jazz cap.
The round and simple shape is widespread and some claim that the shape dates back 3.3 million years to the oldest stone age.
