Jan Groth (1938-2022) dedicated his artistic practice to investigating line in drawings, sculptures and tapestries. From lyrical-abstract paintings in the 1950s, he moved to a minimalistic and monochrome idiom, where the line became the main motif. With his international breakthrough at the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York in 1972, he came among equals on the American avant-garde art scene, and he is today represented in leading art museums in the USA and Europe.
