In The Language of Ceramics, ceramist and author Peder Rasmussen presents both well-known masterpieces and innovative ceramic experiments – from ancient ceramics to modern design and artist ceramics to architectural decorations.
The book provides an insight into the history of ceramics and the many different artistic strategies. It focuses on artists such as Thorvald Bindesbøll, Asger Jorn, Axel Salto, Gertrud Vasegaard, Ursula Munch-Petersen, Bodil Manz, Karen Bennicke and Claydies.
Peder Rasmussen (b. 1948) is a ceramicist himself. From 2011-2013 he was chairman of the Danish Arts Foundation's Committee for Crafts and Design. He has also curated several exhibitions and written numerous books and articles about ceramics.
