Peter Doig was born in Edinburgh in 1959, raised in Trinidad in the Caribbean and Montreal and Toronto in Canada, educated in London. Doig was at once nomadic and connoisseur of the world. In his paintings, for example, motifs inspired by the dense jungle foliage of Trinidad - and the white snow landscapes of North America.
