Marina Abramović is one of the most important and influential performance artists of our time. For decades, she has broken boundaries with iconic works such as The Artist Is Present (2010), in which she sat in silence facing members of the public at the Museum of Modern Art for eight hours a day for three months, and Rhythm 0 (1974), a six-hour performance in which she stood next to a table with seventy-two objects, including a scalpel and a loaded gun, as well as a sign suggesting that the audience could do whatever they wanted with her.
