The poster's eye-catching motif is a detail from Haring's giant mural, which the American pop artist and street artist painted in Louisiana in July 1985. Without sketches or preliminary work, he painted a 15-meter-long and 2.5-meter-high picture in 2 days, which depicts his personal universe with its myriad of human figures, animals and signs.
Patterns and bold colors were the focus of the exhibition, Homo Decorans. Floral textiles, pink stoneware, and gilded porcelain harmonized with the punk-inspired clothing of the time.
American Keith Haring moved to New York in 1977 and was inspired by graffiti art. He only began painting on canvas in 1985 – until then he painted on the walls of the city, train tracks, subway walls, etc.
The poster is one of the anniversary posters that were reprinted in connection with Louisiana's 60th anniversary in 2018.
