Louisiana poster with the work, Untitled , 2014, by the American artist, Richard Prince, which Louisiana will present from November 2022 at the exhibition, Same Man, in the exhibition series, Louisiana on Paper. Prince is one of the most influential artists in the United States after 1980 and is particularly known for his twisted re-photographs of glossy magazine advertisements, his underlines, shadings, annotated and spray-painted versions of magazine covers, books and comic strips – and for his collages, here with a clear nod to Picasso's portraits of women.

In fact, Richard Prince turns everything into a collage. He subtracts and adds. Pablo Picasso is a hero for Prince, and here he cuts holes in a photograph to fill the resulting gaps with his own, generic versions of Picasso's portraits of women, so that a whole new narrative emerges.
But this is not a new “style.” It’s just Prince in a different way. He has always commented, crossed out, spray-painted, re-photographed, cut out, and added in. Prince is an ambiguous figure, and his style varies.
As in all of Richard Prince's works, human identity is at stake, typical of the late 20th century: Who are you? Who am I? Who is he himself?
