Hand-made Japanese candlestick - large ceramic with lava glaze from the ceramic workshop Atelier i lejet. IWA (岩) means rock/stone in Japanese, and the candle holder is inspired by the raw Nordic coast and nature's forms. The candle holder is shaped by hand, where small variations in glaze and texture are a natural part of the handmade expression.
Atelier i Lejet is locally hand-built ceramics from Tisvilde in Denmark. A universe where love for ceramic craftsmanship and imperfect strokes meets aesthetics and authenticity in a hand-made universe of forms. Each individual sculpture, vase, plate, bowl, and relief is shaped by hand, thus reflecting the unique properties of the materials and the ceramist's hands.
Each product is personal and unique. This organic 'imperfection' is, according to the ceramist, precisely the beauty of ceramics. As all ceramics are hand-built, small cracks and irregularities may occur, and the vase may vary slightly in expression, height, and size.
