Louisiana poster with the work Worldgate, 6-7 May from the Arrival of Spring in 2013 (twenty thirteen) , in connection with the exhibition series Louisiana on Paper with the American artist David Hockney in 2015.
The exhibition allowed Hockney to unfold in a Louisiana on Paper context – with the artist's stunning drawings of the landscape of his native Yorkshire . They were done in a completely classical style, sometimes in the open air, other times from the driver's seat of a car parked in a corner of the fence.
Hockney masters classical drawing like few others, and with his unique landscape series he writes himself into the history of drawing. The works in the exhibition also pay homage to Picasso, Matisse and van Gogh. However, following in the footsteps of the great masters was not the real intention behind the works. The drawings were also the nature of the document.
Louisiana on Paper is a series that the museum dedicates to artists' graphic works, drawings and other works on paper. These are often small, intense exhibitions that call for immersion because they get close to the artist's creative process or register of ideas.
