Plaid Postcard throw

Plaid, Carte Postale , designed by French designer Inga Sempé for Danish design brand Elvang. Carte Postale has a graphic pattern that consists only of two-colored surfaces that meet in the middle. The colors are clear, yet enigmatic; they flow together like watercolors - a soft pink that turns into a bright red, or a blue that brightens more and more the closer it gets to the edge of the rug.

In 2002, founders Tina and Lasse Elvang learned about the qualities of alpaca wool during a backpacking trip to Peru. They were captivated by the wool’s softness and durability, and began to play with combining a subdued aesthetic design style with centuries-old Peruvian weaving traditions, creating strong relationships with artisans, community projects and factories. A year later, Elvang was born, becoming the first company to introduce blankets made from alpaca wool in Scandinavia.

The blanket is woven in Peru from a blend of recycled alpaca and sheep wool, making it both soft, durable and lightweight. The recycled wool is processed at our local supplier in Peru, which means that the wool comes from other productions. Elvang ensures better wages for alpaca herders and employee benefits for weavers, and works to reduce transport emissions, reuse packaging and recycle fibers. This has led to the highest possible level of recognition within the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) as a Guaranteed Member and participation in the UN Global Compact Initiative, ensuring that their supply chains and business model put people, the planet and animals first.

The natural properties of wool mean that the blanket rarely needs washing. If necessary, professional cleaning is recommended to preserve the structure of the textile.
