Louisiana print with Inge Ellegaard's work, Amaryllis (2) . Inge Ellegaard (1953-2010) was part of the Danish group of visual artists who at the beginning of the 1980s were dubbed "De unge Vilde" - The Young Wild. Inspired by surrealism, she worked with color and form in her often ambiguous visual narratives.
In 1993, Inge Ellegaard decided to paint the flower amaryllis throughout its life cycle. From flower bud to withering stick. Every day a new picture of the same flower, which after all was not the same when the passing of time had been at stake. As a kind of existential progression from cradle to grave.
The work is part of Inge Ellegaard's series AMARYLLIS - which is part of Louisiana's collection.
