Hand-made espresso cup from the Danish ceramics workshop Kejte. Kejte was created by Emilie Jensen in her workshop on Amager in Copenhagen, where she produces turned and molded utilitarian art with a focus on simple, functional, and timeless forms. Each piece – cups, candlesticks, and bowls – is unique and shaped by hand with great care, ready to be used and appreciated.

The angular expression of the espresso cups originated during a trip to Japan, where Emilie was inspired by ceramics that were not necessarily round and symmetrical, just because they were turned. She brought this inspiration home to Denmark, where the espresso cups were subsequently developed.

The glaze takes on a very special life on the uneven surface compared to the smooth surfaces that turned ceramics often have. The cups are turned in stoneware clay, after which parts of the outer surface are peeled off. This not only provides a good grip but also a lively play in the glaze, which settles differently than if the cups were completely round and smooth.

As the cups are handmade, color and measurements may vary slightly from the pictures. They are dishwasher safe.
