Exhibition catalogue, Academy of Tal R , published in connection with Louisiana's 2017 exhibition with the Danish artist, Tal R (Rosenzweig, b. 1967). Tal R has distinguished himself internationally as one of the most important painters of his generation and although Tal R's art is clearly tied to material and fabric, as a storyteller he has also had a commitment and a special eye for overlooked, hidden and repressed spaces and for people in modern life from the very beginning.

Everything that goes against uniformity interests Tal R and is a resource for his thinking and imagination. According to Tal R, there is no straight path forward through life in relation to artistic realization and personal expression. The "Academy of Life" sets the tracks...

With the role of a bit of a lone wolf in relation to academic learning and at the same time in opposition to the distinct political course of the 1990s, Tal R was forced to define painting in his own vital and contemporary way. One could say that his art functions as a kind of portal for experiences and emotions that only the individual can give final
meaning and fullness.

Tal R had his first exhibition at Louisiana back in 1997 and is today richly represented in the Louisiana collection.
