About Matre
Matre is a Norwegian design brand founded on a deep fascination with Norwegian cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and the design traditions that previously made Norway a significant voice in the international furniture industry. The brand was established in 2023 by Elizabeth Matre-Aas and her husband Ole Kristian Bergsjø Aas with a desire to rediscover and revitalize a nearly forgotten era in Norwegian design history.

About Sigurd Resell
Sigurd Resell (1920–2010) was a Norwegian furniture designer from Meldal in Trøndelag. He trained at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Oslo, where he specialized in furniture design. Resell became particularly known for his collaboration with Vatne Lenestolfabrikk, where, in the 1960s and subsequent decades, he created a range of furniture that combined function, comfort, and a simple, timeless design language. His work is characterized by a balanced approach between traditional craftsmanship and modern design principles.
