Richard Prince (b. 1949) is a leading figure in America's so-called Picture Generation. He re-photographs advertisements from glossy magazines featuring sofas, fashion models, biker girls – or the American man, as depicted by the Marlboro cigarette brand: Here, closely cropped by Prince's camera, held together with tape, open to new interpretation.
