For two decades, the Danish artist, Peter Callesen, has animated paper in his hands, from miniature works in A4 format to large installations on a human scale. With surgical precision, Callesen cuts silhouettes out of the flat paper, which he transforms into three-dimensional figures and imaginative narratives. Life and death, magnificent nature, the fragile human being and the thin-skinned artist are themes that Callesen boldly approaches in his white works.

This book collects Callesen's works on paper from 2003 to 2023 and is edited by art historian Natalia Gutman. Six authors - Barry Schwabsky, Merete Pryds Helle, Kristian Ditlev Jensen, Henrik Oxvig, Josephine Nielsen-Bergqvist and Maja Lee Langvad - contribute prose, poetry and art historical texts inspired by themes in Callesen's art.

Peter Callesen himself contributes six completely new works, created especially for this book.
