Poster with anti-reflectiv glass of the work, (2019), by the Swedish artist Karin Mamma Andersson (b. 1962), which Louisiana presented in 2021 with the exhibition Humdrum Days. The poster is delivered ready-framed with a matte laminated surface that significantly reduces reflections from light sources compared to ordinary glass, providing a beautiful, calm visual expression without glare. The frame is made of oak veneer.
Mamma Andersson is considered one of the most important painters of her generation, and Louisiana presented her for the first time in a large-scale exhibition in Denmark. She builds her paintings on art historical references and found photographs, films, and historical clippings. It is painting upon painting, images upon images as Andersson's works open up into a universe of suggestive and emotionally charged narratives in vast landscapes, interiors, and portraits:
The Nordic landscape with slopes, spruce forests, and the special, contrasting light. Dolls, often as substitutes for people, giving the painting a solidified, object-like character. Figures with their backs turned, whose averted faces make the image mysterious. And the color black, often in several shades and materials, oversprayed or roughly applied to create a distinct darkness in the picture, a darkness the artist herself associates with death.
