Anti-reflective framing - Tal R Adieu Interesting - silver (2005-2008)

Here, Tal R showcases his fascination with the layer-on-layer technique of collage, with an explosion of colors and cut-outs – a work he dedicated several years to. Since the 90s, Tal R has been one of the most prominent Danish artists of his generation and is today richly represented in Louisiana's collection.

Throughout his work, Tal R has engaged with a wealth of materials and types of works: drawing, collage, print, books, and sculpture. He clearly refers to the history of art, but his motifs are drawn more from the real world. Tal R's works function as portals that can invite us into other worlds - and can, from some angles, be perceived as provocative.

Tal R allows a whole range of different elements to flow into his pictures as a kind of focused play, fascinated by fragments. Writing, words, traces, form, color, and substance – everything comes together to form the sum from which the image arises.

Fundamentally, it is the desire to create and look at images that forms the backbone of Tal R's multifaceted work. This fascination is Tal R's working foundation and it can hardly fail to propagate to the viewer.

Tal R had his debut at Louisiana in 1997 and achieved something close to a popular breakthrough with the museum's retrospective exhibition, The Sum, in 2007. Louisiana opened in 2017 the first comprehensive presentation of the artist's works, created over the previous 20 years at that time.
