Louisiana Edition with the work Don't see by the Indian artist Shilpa Gupta. The artist is concerned with how the subconscious controls our attitudes towards other people, with whom she works in all kinds of genres – installation and sculpture, photography and web-based art.
With a clear political awareness both of Shilpa Gupta's (born 1976) own origins and of global world citizenship, she creates images that seem strongly place- and culturally determined. Louisiana, which presented the artist in 2009/10, acquired her large sculptural work Singing Cloud after the exhibition. Today, the artist is represented in the museum's collection with both sculpture, photography and installations.
About Louisiana Editions
The Louisiana Edition is original graphics, created directly for Louisiana by artists who have exhibited at the museum in recent years and are all represented in the museum's collection. These are obvious collector's items.
When Louisiana celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008, a number of the artists who have exhibited at the museum were asked to create a graphic work that could then be sold to support Louisiana. The series has since been continuously expanded.
The works are produced in limited editions (most in an edition of 30) and priced in accordance with the artists themselves, who have generously wanted to support Louisiana, as the income from the series will go uncut for new purchases for the museum's collection. The works are unframed unless otherwise stated.
