Cidea Twisted Ginger lamp

Cidea pendant lamp in hand-folded, chemical-free paper from the Danish family business, Sonobe Light – here with a dark, golden brown fabric cord. The lamp gives a soft and warm light through the unbleached paper, folded in up to 11 layers. All Sonobe lamps have names inspired by fossils in Danish nature – here Cidea, after a group of fossilized sea urchins, Cidarids/Cidaris.

The Cidea lamp was originally designed in connection with an exhibition and project called Light in Life. In the lamp's first two years of existence, 5% of the sales were donated to the organization, Mentorbarn.

Sonobe Light is run by a family of five from a shop and workshop on Vesterbrogade in Copenhagen, using Danish raw materials and subcontractors. The paper used for the lamps is 100% recyclable and biodegradable, produced without the use of chemical bleaching.

The lamp is delivered ready to use with a 3m fabric cord, plug and built-in light bulb (E14 LED, lifespan up to 15,000 hours). The lamp is mounted with a piece of lambskin at the top and is closed at the bottom, from which the lamp can also be opened when the bulb needs to be changed. The strong paper means that the lamp can be easily opened and closed without breaking the paper. If you want to replace the light source, use E14, max 6W.
