PK-Mini marble bowl, designed by the world-renowned Danish architect, Poul Kjærholm (1929-1980). PK-Mini is made of Nero Marquina marble, known for its soft black color. Like other bowls in the series, the PK-Mini emphasizes the contrast between the smooth interior and the robust exterior. Poul Kjærholm designed Mini in 1963 - just like the larger bowls, PK-600, PK-Bowl and PK-Marble.
Throughout his work as an architect and professor at the School of Crafts in Copenhagen, Kjærholm insisted on structural clarity and technical quality, which he emphasized by incorporating these qualities into his design of objects used in everyday life.
Thus, Kjærholm pays tribute to the details by showing each individual design and the components of the individual objects – from nails to screws and joints – instead of hiding them. His furniture and design objects quickly set the standard for Danish design.
Poul Kjærholm became known for his modern, functional furniture, which is praised for its understated elegance and clean lines. With an uncompromising aim to merge form and function, Kjærholm has created design objects, freed from everything superfluous, with an elegant, timeless and functional design language.
Kjærholm's philosophy embraced sustainability as a timeless expression and emphasized the importance of using materials that age gracefully. In both the development and production of his designs, Poul Kjærholm demanded precision and was known for never letting a product go on sale if he did not consider it to be "perfect".
