Vase, Wave , from Danish ceramist Christian Bruun. Christian Bruun mixes his own glazes from local ingredients in Vietnam, where he has worked since 1992. The nuances in the glaze reflect the colors of the flowers and branches in the garden.
Christian Bruun's career as an artisan started early, when at the age of 8 he developed a taste for sitting alone at the pottery wheel and working with clay at a potter's, where he was looked after after school. Since 1992 he has worked in Vietnam, where he uses local raw materials and mixes his own glazes.
Since 1991, Christians Bruun has had his own workshop under the old grandstand at Charlottenlund Racecourse. His works are part of the permanent collection at Designmuseum Danmark, at Clay Ceramics Museum Danmark, and his stoneware can also be found in various galleries. Christian Bruun has been awarded several grants, including from the Danish Arts Foundation, and he has won several awards for his crafts.
The ceramics have since opened the doors to workshops all over the world, from the USA, to Norway and to several countries in Asia, where he has drawn new inspiration and further developed his skills through collaborations with competent local artisans, in addition to his education from the Danish School of Design.
