Japanese Yayoi Kusama's career spans seven decades and numerous media. Original and wildly popular around the world - also with Louisiana's audience for, among other things, the life's work, I Uendelighenden (2015-16), which became one of the most visited exhibitions in the museum's history. Yayoi Kusama: 1945 to Now is the most comprehensive survey of the artist's work to date.

Yaoui Kusama (b. 1929) emerged with artistic experiments in Asia and quickly became a central figure on the New York art scene in the 1960s. Today, Kusama continues to communicate her very personal and spiritual worldview through her art.

Structured around six thematic sections, 'Infinity', 'Accumulation', 'The Biocosmic', 'Radical Connectivity', 'Death' and 'Force of Life', the volume illuminates the aesthetic and philosophical concerns at the heart of the artist's oeuvre. Also included are curatorial essays exploring various aspects of Kusama's practice, and a detailed visual chronology of her life.

In addition to a selection of Kusama's writings, some of which have never been published before, the book features correspondence with Georgia O'Keeffe, an interview with critic and curator Yoshie Yoshida, and a panel discussion among leading authorities in the field.

This monograph appeals not only to those already familiar with Kusama and her work, but also to those who here meet Kusam for the first time - an artist who, although shaped by international artistic currents, remains deeply connected to the traditions and the culture of his native Japan.

The editors, Doryun Chong and Mika Yoshitake, are respectively Deputy Director, Curator and Chief Curator at M+, Hong Kong and independent curator specializing in post-war Japanese art.
