An icon of a high-quality pine pendant lamp from the Finnish brand, Vaarnii. The pendant was originally designed by the Swedish master of lamp design, Hans-Agne Jakobsson, (1919-2009) back in the 1960s, as part of a series of lamps, and therefore now reintroduced by Vaarnii. With the wild Finnish pine as the primary material, the lamp glows warmly and comfortably – the wood is light from birth and over time acquires the warm honey glow. Sold online only . Will be in stock mid-February
Vaarnii is an ambitious Finnish furniture company with a stated goal of making furniture that can last for generations. Vaarnii's first collection is produced exclusively from the most widespread tree in Finland, Scots pine (Pinus Sylvestris), from sustainably managed wild forests: Unlike cultivated pine, wild pine grows slowly, and therefore the wood is dense, heavy and hard: Ideal for products that must last a long time.
Vaarnii works with a small number of hand-picked Finnish producers. Established factories that specialize in a certain type of manufacturing and production on a larger scale - or small workshops and individual craftsmen.
Although the Finnish Scots pine Vaarnii uses in their designs is among the hardest pines available, pine is still a soft wood. The lamp may therefore get some small scratches and bumps over time. It is just part of the character of the lamp.
