Urban Oasis is close to more than 20 green projects for a better urban life – central in times of climate crisis and ever-growing cities. In text and not least many and large photos, the focus is on relevant green projects and sustainability, farming on roofs, greener, former industrial areas, restoration of protected parks and the slow movement of flowers.
Urban Oasis shows Berlin's Tempelhof Airport, now a thriving public space, to the former landfill turned Cairo's Al-Azhar Park, above Bangkok's Thammasat University Urban Farm, the largest organic rooftop farm in Asia.
Urban Oasis includes interviews with leading figures in their field, such as the pioneer of today's guerrilla garden movement, Ron Finley, landscape architect, Kotchakorn Voraakhom of the futuristic studio, Landprocess and probably the world's best-known landscape gardener, Piet Oudolf.
The German freelance journalist and photographer, Jessica Jungbauer, is behind the book. Jungbauer's articles and photos revolve around communicating the work for a sustainable future and her work appears in leading magazines worldwide, such as National Geographic Traveler, Der Spiegel, Zeit Online, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Vogue, The Guardian, BBC, Condé Nast Traveler and more .
