Art must go "where people walk and have it in front of their eyes every day," believed brewer Carl Jacobsen, and since the mid-1920s the New Carlsberg Foundation has financed hundreds of artistic decorations in institutions and urban spaces all over Denmark.

The New Carlsberg Foundation was established in 1902 by brewer Carl Jacobsen and is primarily financed by dividends from shares from Carlsberg A/S. Today, the foundation continues to work to realize the brewer's vision of strengthening art in society and making it accessible to the widest possible audience.
