The book, Art and Climate Change - presents an overview of ecologically conscious contemporary art that addresses the climate crisis, as artists around the world call for an active, collective engagement with the planet and shed light on some of the structures that threaten humanity's survival. The authors are the London-based curators and art historians, Dr. Maja Fowkes and Dr. Reuben Fowkes.
Among other things, the authors are co-founders of the research center Translocal Institute for Contemporary Art in Budapest, which operates at the crossroads between ecological thought and contemporary art. They are also co-founders of the Environmental Arts and Humanities Initiative at Central European University – also in Budapest, and have curated contemporary art and ecology programs.
