The book looks more like an artist's book than a classic exhibition catalog – for example, the book is not popped up at the top. About the book, graphic designer Irma Boom – who designed the catalog – has said: "The book is like an eternal peep show. Mika Rottenberg stands today as one of the big names in contemporary art with works that can almost be seen as allegories of the global age and condition. Central to Rottenberg's art is people's relationship to work functions, value creation and communities. In that, her art is a very relevant contribution to describing an era where we are all included as production facilities in the accelerating machinery of global overconsumption.
Mika Rottenberg mirrors and skewers the global state and the way we (sur)live in it. She mixes film, installation and sculpture and weaves truth with fiction in a form of modern and unique tales of fate. The result is absurd, surreal, critical, loving – and funny.
Mika Rottenberg was born in Argentina, raised in Israel and now lives in New York.
