Klint belongs to the first generation of academy-educated women in Europe and is hosted by many guests at Louisiana, which exhibited her striking images in 2014.

Although Hilma af Klint's paintings were first shown publicly in 1987, her work dates back to the early 20th century - before the first purely abstract paintings by Kandinsky, Mondrian and Malevich.

Deeply interested in spiritualism and philosophy, af Klint developed an iconography that explores esoteric concepts in metaphysics, as demonstrated in the Tree of Knowledge. Hilma af Klint's visual universe is visually strong, color-experimental and rich in symbols.
