The shelf, Gable Shelf , was designed by the Danish architectural studio Stillark. Gable Shelf was originally designed as a storage solution to replace wall-mounted kitchen cabinets, but the shelf quickly became popular as storage for things other than crockery. For example for books, stationery and even toys.

The Gable Shelf is constructed of solid oak and painted ash veneer with visible wood grain that adds structure and tactility to the shelf as well as allowing the color of the shelf to change as light exposure changes throughout the day.
