Exclusive pendant light designed by Lars Vejen for the Danish brand, Motarasu. The Enso lamp is constructed with specially coated Japanese washi paper, which makes it strong and gives a soft and diffused light. The oak frame is attached with magnets, so the screen is easy to open and clean with a cloth. The lamp is designed for power-saving LED light. Available online only.
Designer Lars Vejen has named Enso after one of the classic, calligraphic motifs - the Enso circle - where the artist strives to draw a perfect circle, knowing that perfection will never be achieved.
Lars Vejen is a trained architect from Aarhus School of Architecture with a focus on furniture and room design. In 2014, he founded Design Studio Lars Vejen with offices in Denmark and Japan, and Vejen has won awards for his design, among others awarded by the Statens Kunstfond.
Motarasu was founded in 2019 by Mikkel Zebitz. Zebitz is clearly inspired by Japanese design and aesthetics. But where classic Danish designers, as well as contemporary designers, have largely let Japan serve as inspiration, Zebitz wanted to change this and collaborate directly with Japanese designers: "Motarasu" means "to change" in Japanese.
Art and nature are the key elements in designs from Motarasu, who work from the showroom in Frederiksgade in Copenhagen.
